Water Resources Project Engineer - Sioux Falls, SD


To continue our extreme client services, we are seeking a Water Resources Project Engineer to work closely with the Water Resources Practice Leader, other water resources staff, and project managers to perform water resources analysis and design activities.  The successful candidate will also assist in business development.

RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Provide professional services for water resources engineering projects to include planning, study, design, and construction administration
  • Perform analysis and planning of stormwater management facilities utilizing InfoSWMM and HydroCAD
  • Perform floodplain analysis and evaluation using HEC-RAS (Hec-GeoRAS, GeoHEC-RAS)
  • Provide review of stormwater management plans submitted to municipalities
  • Lead specific tasks of large projects or manage smaller projects and manage performance of assigned project team members including other Project Engineers, Engineers in Training, and Engineering Technicians
  • Maintain existing client relationships and pursue relationships with new clients
  • Assist the Water Resources Practice Leader and Operations Manager in identifying, evaluating, pursuing, and managing project opportunities
  • Provide quality control and quality assurance on all project work
  • Maintain budgets and schedules of project assignments
  • Coordinate, facilitate, and attend internal and external meetings

 

Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications 


  • Bachelor degree in civil engineering or related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in water resources engineering
  • Demonstrated experience using InfoSWMM software for urban stormwater management analysis & design
  • Demonstrated experience using HEC-RAS software for floodplain analysis
  • Experience with AutoCAD and ArcGIS software
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel as required for project/client responsibilities and business development
  • Ability to work remotely and manage projects, clients, and project team members

 

Preferred Qualifications


  • Master degree in a water resources related field
  • Knowledge of South Dakota design standards and permitting
  • Municipal or industrial wastewater treatment planning and design experience
  • Project management experience
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer or ability to obtain within 12 months
  • Knowledge of project financials
